BACKGROUND
Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Dr. Blackett has resided in the Northwest since beginning his internship in 1959.
Since 1966, Dr. Blackett has been in the private practice of neurological surgery in Tacoma, Washington. He was board certified in 1967. Dr. Blackett has maintained a consulting law practice since 1977, emphasizing personal injury and medical professional negligence issues. He has co-counseled for both plaintiff and defendant.
Dr. Blackett was the found of the Washington Physicians Insurance Company and was a member of its board of directors though 1987.
Dr. Blackett has served as President of the Pierce County Medical Society, Pierce County Medical Bureau, Tacoma General Hospital, Washington Association of Neurological Surgeons and Western Neurosurgical Society. He is a past Secretary/Treasurer of the Western Neurological Society and past Chairman of the Medical Legal Committee of the Joint Council of State Neurosurgical Societies. Dr. Blackett is a recent Director of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
